Veng Bopa she trusted her instinct to search for the specialised eye care her 2-year-old son urgently needed. Travelling for 5 hours and more than 150km via tuk tuk to Phnom Penh from a small village, she borrowed money from friends and family, to meet Dr Long, a Sight For All Fellow.
He diagnosed the infant with endogenous endophthalmitis, a serious infection of the eye that had progressed to a dangerous point.
Despite treatment, the child experienced significant and permanent vision loss, however, it could have been avoided.
